Position Description: 

The Learning & Development (L&D) team is responsible for improving group and individual performance by increasing and honing skills and knowledge. Over the last two years, L&D has grown tremendously in size and capabilities by establishing dedicated functional partnerships across the company. The team currently identifies skill gaps among groups and then finds suitable training to fill these gaps.

The L&D team sets strategic direction, competency road maps and overall talent development for the company. The team is structured to partner with different departments and be the learning architect owner through managing the investment by audience and overall capability plans. Joining the L&D team provides the opportunity to own various learning programs linked to clearly defined business outcomes and improving associate engagement across all levels.

The primary responsibility of the Instructional Designer is to work with various departments and subject matter experts to create ILT and online training courses as determined by management and L&D needs analysis. Depending on the area of focus (supply chain, sales, IT, or leadership development), the position consults with subject matter experts to provide course content and training curriculum. They may also tracks employee performance, measure training outcomes and/or assist in conducting assessment and analysis to identify new development needs and recommends training methods accordingly. Additional, this position may work with L&D leadership and line management to convert raw course material from end user sources into e-learning platform, administer the e- learning site, programs administer employee use of site, and assist with needs assessments and strategic learning assessments to develop the basis for curriculum development or to update curricula.



Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Develop instructional materials and products for instructor led, blended and/or technology-based courses
  • Develop instructional materials, such as lesson plans, handouts, or examinations
  • Convert raw course material from end user sources into e-learning platform
  • Administer e-learning site, programs, and documents
  • Administer employee use of site
  • Assist with needs assessments and strategic learning assessments to develop the basis for curriculum development or to update curricula
  • Reduction in onboarding time for new employees
  • Creation of a catalogue of appropriate e-learning courses covering all necessary positions
  • Preparation, transition, and maintenance of current programs to a LMS
  • Builds consensus and collaborates with team members to accomplish best solutions for leadership development learning
  • Leverages technology and learning resources to ensure meaningful and effective learning experiences for program participants.
  • Analyze training needs to develop new training programs or modify and improve existing programs
  • Works with other L&D staff to ensure leadership and professional development training accurately meets the needs of various employee populations (supply chain, corporate, etc.)

Qualifications

Required

  • A minimum of a two-year technical degree plus 2+ years of experience or a Bachelor’s degree from a 4-year college or university.
  • Computer-based training software experience (i.e. - Adobe Systems Adobe Captivate)
  • Video creation and editing software (i.e. - Adobe Systems Adobe Premiere Pro software; Apple QuickTime; Avid Technology Pinnacle Studio; TechSmith Camtasia preferred)
  • Exposure to E-Learning Design and creation of various course types using e-learning as the delivery method including objective and soft skills
  • Application of adult learning theory demonstrated in work
  • Application of instruction design techniques (i.e. - HPI model preferred)

Desired

  • Experience with Blackboard Learn, Trivantis CourseMill and/or Worldwide Instructional Design System WIDS
  • Desktop publishing software experience (i.e. - Adobe Systems Adobe FrameMaker, Microsoft Publisher and/or Performance Technology Associates DocuTools)
  • Graphics or photo imaging software acumen (i.e. - Adobe Systems Adobe Flash, Adobe Systems Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Systems Adobe Photoshop software and/or TechSmith Snagit)
  • Experience with video creation and editing software (i.e. - Adobe Systems Adobe Premiere Pro software, Apple QuickTime, Avid Technology Pinnacle Studio and/or TechSmith Camtasia)
