Position Description: 

To manage and coordinate software builds/deployments for multiple projects across multiple platforms, ensuring smooth coordination of development projects with complex development branch interdependencies • To manage application configuration and environment specific deltas from development through production • To manage the source code repository for the team for all projects • To develop and maintain a robust continuous integration/continuous delivery process with the aim of reducing the risks, cost, and time of delivering software changes to production • To fully document and maintain explicit and replicable build and release procedures, integrating automation into the process wherever possible • To drive the communication and adoption of best practices across development teams ensuring development of a consistent enterprise-wide build/release process, and to on-board and train new engineers into the teams’ processes and toolset • To serve as a subject matter expert in software build automation, continuous integration, release automation, and application lifecycle management • To develop processes and tools to support automation of software builds and deployments, and to evaluate and integrate appropriate new tools/technology into the development process where needed

Primary Responsibilities:                                                                                 

  • Managing software development branch merges and ensuring the merges meet defined acceptance criteria (unit tests, coding standards, code coverage, etc.)
  • Drive reviews of pull/merge requests, and follow-up with appropriate individuals to remediate rejected merges or merge conflicts
  • Timely and accurate coordination and execution of planned code and configuration changes within development, QA/test, and production environments
  • Manage release related tickets (issue links, migration notes, etc.)
  • Support delivery of expected functionality during releases into production
  • Coordinate and understand operational procedures, such as tasks, scripts, and scheduled jobs that are run on affected servers and infrastructure, and maintain documentation of such

Experience(s) that Best Prepares You:          

  • Education
    • This position requires a BA/BS in computer science or related IT field plus working experience with software configuration management, build management, and application lifecycle management.
  • Experience:
    • 5+ years developing and managing software builds, releases, and deployments
    • 5+ years’ experience acting as administrator of a software configuration management tool, preferably Git or similar distributed revision control system (Mercurial, Subversion, etc.)
    • 5+ years working with/managing software builds and build automation using tools such as Maven, Ant, Gradle, or similar
    • Experience with software configuration management, build automation, continuous integration, continuous delivery, DevOps
    • Experience driving process improvement and coordinating and implementing complex interactions between systems and teams
    • Experience with unit testing frameworks (JUnit, JTest, Mockito, etc.)
    • Experience with software/application development, preferably in e-Commerce or web development
    • Experience with the Atlassian tool suite (JIRA, Confluence, Stash, Bamboo…)
    • Experience with Git   
    • Strong experience with UNIX / Linux
    • Experience with Hybris is a plus
    • Experience with application development, preferably in e-Commerce or web development
    • Understanding of Java, JavaScript, PHP, Spring, web frameworks, and other software development languages and tools
    • Familiarity or experience with configuration management tools such as Puppet, Chef, or Vagrant
    • Experience with static code analysis tools
    • Production support experience is necessary
    • Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Company, in its discretion may find appropriate and acceptable

Key Competencies:

  • Knowledge and understanding of source code version control systems, configuration management techniques and procedures
  • Expertise in build and release processes and tools
  • This person must have strong communication and negotiation skills in order to push best practices and drive process improvement even when confronted with resistance
  • Experience building/supporting B2B e-Commerce applications
  • Enterprise experience supporting multi-tier applications in multiple environments
  • Strong and innovative approach to problem solving and finding solutions
  • Excellent communicator (written and verbal, formal and informal)
  • Ability to interact professionally with and influence a diverse group including executives, managers, and subject matter experts.
