Position Description: 

A Data/Analytics Engineer is responsible to design and code functional programs and applications in Data Analytics and Big Data Platforms. The ideal candidate has excellent knowledge of at least one of required object oriented programming language.
The role is responsible to write clean and flawless code to produce fully functional software applications according to requirements.

You will work with multiple teams to deliver solutions on the Google Cloud Platform using core cloud data warehouse tools (Big Query , Python, Hadoop, Spark, and other Big Data related technologies) to ingest data and transform to deliverable Information. In addition to building the next generation of data platforms and/or improving recent implementations.
Note: This is a data engineer from the application side. Must be able to analyze multi sources that provide data and develop strategies for populating data lakes. This person will be called upon to do complex coding.

This is not an infrastructure position, however you will help create the infrastructure that powers the analytical insight and data science efforts. You will work alongside the Senior Data Architect to ensure that the data analytics and data science mission is being achieved through tool setup, process creation, training and advocacy

  • Understand client requirements and how they translate in application features.
  • Design creative prototypes according to specifications.
  • Write high quality source code to program complete applications within deadlines
  • Perform unit and integration testing before launch.
  • Conduct or assist with functional and non-functional testing as needed
  • Troubleshoot and debug applications in a timely manner
  • Evaluate existing applications to reprogram, update and add new features to increase the program’s effectiveness.
  • Develop technical documents and handbooks to accurately represent application design and code
  • Review current systems
  • Work closely with business analysts, Solution/Enterprise architects and other IT and business teams
  • Produce detailed specifications and writing the Program code
  • Design and develop support fixes, small enhancements and coding for major projects
  • Successfully engage in multiple initiatives simultaneously
  • Work under the direction of a manager
  • Participate in the deployment of business applications and other projects
  • Keep up to date with technical as well as industry sector developments
  • Accomplishment of IT objectives and execution of defined goals
  • Work with internal and external vendor teams on all support/enhancement/project related activities
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (e.g. Product owners, QE, EA, PE, DevOps, Security, etc.)
  • Maintain the systems once they are up and running
  • Adapt the program to new requirements, as necessary
  • Develop ad hoc and standard project reports for management as needed
  • Consult manuals, periodicals and technical reports to learn new ways to develop programs and maintain existing skills and knowledge

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Experience coding in one of these programming languages (Python/Java/Perl/Ruby etc.)
  • SQL Experience is a must
  • Sound understanding of Linux
  • 1 to 2 years’ hands on work experience in GCP Big Data Management, Data on Cloud, GCP Big Data Services, AI / Client capabilities in Big Data Platforms


  • Familiarity with the retail and supply chain industry
  • Experience with cloud computing (infrastructure, storage, networking, platforms and data).
  • Cloud related Certification preferred
  • experience NoSQL database technologies like MongoDB, CouchDB, Redis, HBase, etc.
  • proficient with XML, JSON
  • working knowledge of scripting (Shell and others) languages on various OS like Linux, Unix etc.
  • optimizing Big Data flow and data sets.
  • Experience with Google cloud services: GCE, GCS, BQ, Cloud SQL, Dataproc, Dataprep, etc.

Candidate Skills and Competencies


  • Knowledge of applicable data privacy practices and laws
  • Familiarity with software development methodologies
  • Solid working knowledge of current Internet technologies
  • Working technical knowledge of programming languages


  • Programming / Software Development (PROG)
    • Design, code, test, correct, and document simple programs, or scripts and assist in the implementation of software
  • Testing (TEST)
    • Execute test scripts and record results and report issues.
    • Develop an understanding of the role of testing within system development, as a tool for design improvement as well as a validation process.
