Position Description: 

Under general supervision, installs, configures, and maintains both physical & virtual operating system servers, in support of business processing requirements. Performs software installations and upgrades to operating systems and layered software packages. Schedules installations and upgrades and maintains them in accordance with established IT policies and procedures. Monitors and tunes the system to achieve optimum performance levels. Ensures server data integrity by evaluating, implementing, and managing appropriate software and hardware solutions. Develops and promotes standard operating procedures. Conducts routine hardware and software audits of servers to ensure compliance with established standards, policies and configuration guidelines. Develops and maintains a comprehensive operating system hardware and software configuration database/library of all supporting documentation. Plans, develops, documents and implements enhancements to system environments.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Responsible for the efficient operation and management Microsoft Windows physical & virtual servers

Creates and maintains Microsoft OS templates for server deployment

Experience with VMWare vCenter and general VMWare operations, vRealize Automation a plus

Experience with SSO, specifically Okta preferred

Performs installation, configuration, maintenance, and upgrade activities

Troubleshoots and repairs system failures or problems; participates as technical resource in cross-team troubleshooting efforts

Documents system builds and configuration; ensures documentation is kept up to date and reflects all changes

Develops a baseline understanding of each system’s performance and resource utilization

Uses this information to project growth requirements and plan capacity, and to establish normal operating parameters around which alerts, or exception reporting is triggered

Schedules and manages system activities in order to optimize availability and utilization

Performs system/file backup and recovery

Collects, tracks and reports various established metrics and data

Assists with audit requests as needed

Perform on-call duties when required

  • Education:  A BS in Computer Science or a closely related discipline, or equivalent experience
  • Experience: 5 or more years Windows Server Administration

Key Competencies:

Knowledge of Microsoft Server Operating Systems and Microsoft Windows Operating Systems

Experience with Microsoft Exchange Server Online, Microsoft SharePoint and Microsoft SQL server

Experience with Teams, OneDrive, Windows 10, Office 365 Pro Plus

Knowledge of Active Directory, LDAP, DNS, DHCP

Experience with backup and recovery processes and procedures

Experience with Group Policy, PowerShell and/or other scripting/automation tools

Familiarity with advanced Storage Solutions Preferred

Familiarity with enterprise backup solutions

Familiarity with cloud environments

Ability to be proactive, creative problem solver and work well under pressure

  • Travel required: __5% of the time, travel throughout the U.S. and may require overnight stays.
