Position Description: 

American Tire Distributor (ATD) is North America’s best-in-class tire distributor, employing more than 5,000 associates dedicated to solving complex problems for our customers and partners. The UX/UI Designer is responsible for the interaction and visual design of rich, engaging experiences for our end-to-end (shop, buy, install) lifecycle for business-to-business (B2B) transactions fed by our business-to-consumer (B2C) properties. This position will collaborate with stakeholders, partners, and users to devise innovative solutions, while guiding ideation and user validation to create experiences that delight our users.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Works directly with the Director of Digital Design to conceptualize approaches and roadmap for user experience strategies.
  • Be able to present, justify, evangelize, and negotiate proposed user interface designs.
  • Collaborate with business stakeholders, product managers, developers, designers, content providers, marketing professionals, and agency partners to deliver solutions that align with business objectives, industry best practices, brand guidelines, and project timelines.
  • This individual may take part in the initial planning of projects, taking ownership in driving product and new feature development through every stage of the product development lifecycle.
  • Help guide initial research and discovery sessions to better understand problems and users
  • Lead iterative design efforts from exploration through to high-fidelity designs and development-ready artifacts
  • Help drive and maintain ADA compliance across our suite of applications and experience
  • Create guidelines, standards, and repeatable processes to generate sales, retain customers, and provide a first-class customer experience.
  • Serve as the customer voice and advocate in technology discussions and decisions.
  • Take ownership in driving product and new feature development through every stage of the product development lifecycle.
  • Have a full understanding of the appropriate metrics and key performance indicators to measure performance to goals.


  • Bachelor’s degree in related field or equivalent combination of industry related professional experience and education. 
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in User Interface and User Experience practice or relevant field
  • Experience using traditional design tools, including Figma, Sketch, Adobe Creative Suite, Lucid Charts, Mural, or similar tools.
  • Possesses knowledge of Design Thinking, Lean UX, and Agile practices with experience applying those practices within an organization.
  • Familiar with traditional online testing tools and methodologies.
  • Experience working in a B2B and B2C Web E-Commerce environments.
  • Experience implementing and maintaining responsive design practices for desktop, tablet, and mobile platforms.
  • Familiar with Level AA ADA Compliance requirements and implementations.

  • Ability to understand customer needs, motivations and behaviors and translate them into actionable deliverables
  • Experience in user interface design principles and product development lifecycle with the ability to gather complex user requirements for User Experience documentation
  • Experience diagramming site flows, user journeys, and other architectural artifacts
  • Ability to develop engaging wireframes, complex prototypes, and compelling high-fidelity designs and redlines
  • Experience conducting user research and testing with tangible impacts to in-market consumer products
  • Strong communication, leadership, and client interaction skills
  • Innovative and creative thinker who is service-oriented and can be an analytical, problem solver
  • Working knowledge of project management skills, problem solving, conflict resolution, decision-making skills, financial and analytical skills, and experience working in agile development environments

  • Travel required:  5% of the time, travel throughout the U.S. with overnight stays.
