We are looking for a Senior Director of Merchandising under the leadership of the SVP Merchandising, who will be responsible for owning the P&L for their assigned brands or category, including leading vendor negotiations. The Sr. Director of Merchandising will create and execute the comprehensive strategy for their brands across the US organization. This person will lead all vendor engagement, collaborating cross functionally with partners in Sales, Marketing, Revenue Management, and Supply Chain to make all key decisions related to their assigned brands. This position plays a vital role in the achievement of the enterprise performance objectives.

What you’ll do on a typical day:

  • Create and execute Merchandising strategies in assigned brands/category to achieve organizational objectives
  • Create strong vendor relationships, driven by transparency and partnership that seeks integrative solutions to grow the brand in ways that create a win-win for ATD and the vendor.
  • Lead vendor negotiations to drive increased return on investment (GMROI) in your assigned brands/category.
  • Oversee, lead, and direct all functional issue resolution for assigned brands/category.
  • Directly manage the Merchandising Manager, who has operational responsibility for execution of vendor strategy, including managing cost, evaluating price files, and new product introduction.
  • Manage indirect team members within Supply Chain (Product Assortment), Revenue Management, and Marketing to drive brand/category strategy.
  • Work with the Merchandising Manager to perform ad hoc analysis to increase sales, profit, and inventory efficiency for assigned brands/category.
  • Collaborate with the Senior Director of Purchasing to make special decisions and ensure product cost is maintained and properly cascaded to relevant ATD departments.
  • Collaborate with the Product Assortment team to ensure assigned brands have the correct breadth and depth in ATD’s DC network.
  • Own and report to Senior Management the results of assigned brands or product category

You will need the following to succeed at ATD:

At a minimum:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in a related business discipline (Business, Marketing, Manufacturing, Supply Chain)
  • Experience: 7-10+ years of experience in vendor management, negotiation, merchandising, and/or business leadership positions
  • Results driven business owner who can manage complex teams (in a matrix setting) to implement strategies that generate value
  • Systematic problem solver who understands the value of leveraging analytical insights to drive innovative solutions
  • Strong ability to collaborate with multiple departments and functions
  • Demonstrated decision-making ability
  • Demonstrated leadership ability
  • Ability to partner and influence
  • Highly effective written/verbal communication and collaborative skills
  • Strong analytical and conceptual skills

It’d be great if you also have:

  • MBA
  • Experience in the Wheel and Tire industry
  • Negotiation skills/certification
  • Merchant and/or Manufacturing experience
  • B2B and B2C experience
