Position Description: 

The Regional Sales Operations Director is responsible for leading and deploying center-driven sales initiatives, providing strategic support to region leadership, and ensuring continuous improvement to the selling process in their assigned Region. Specifically, the RSODs are responsible for deploying best practices and ensuring the field executes against these best practices consistently across all regions. The RSOD also provides strategic support to the Region Presidents by advising on sales forecasting and providing analytical support to guide strategy. The RSOD will also collaborate with the Sales Center of Excellence to provide a field perspective on the development of initiatives and to co-develop initiatives involving topics for which they are deeply knowledgeable. Furthermore, the RSOD will collaborate with the Region's sales leadership to both understand today's pain points and to monitor the results of implemented initiatives. Lastly, the RSOD will actively drive and develop a culture of continuous improvement within the sales organization.

Primary Responsibilities:                                  

Lead deployment of sales initiatives (e.g., sales model redesign, account prioritization) throughout the Region's field organization, managing activities around launch, training adoption, and iteration Provide strategic support to RP by advising on sales forecasting and providing analytics Collaborate with Sales Center of Excellence to understand and implement best practices and opportunities for selling process improvement (e.g., replacing a training program) Provide feedback to Center of Excellence on results of sales initiatives, and develop suggestions to improve performance Provide expertise and coaching to sales force on key selling processes (e.g., relationship management) Ensure effective sales training and establish focus on talent development Maintain accountability for regional CRM usage and collaborate with center to drive improvements to increase adoption and use Provide field input (e.g., observations of current sales process, region-specific watchouts for initiatives) to center to aid in development of sales initiatives Proactively identify trends in industry and determine their effect on optimal selling model and resourcing Create culture of continuous improvement within regional sales force Collaborate with the Sales Center of Excellence to develop, train, and implement sales insight tools, program management tools, sales and program communications, sales planning tools, and customer "profitability" screens Collaborate with the Sales Center of Excellence, Marketing, Category Management, and Supply Chain on promotions, new product launches, and promotional opportunities

Experience(s) that Best Prepares You: 

  • Education: Bachelor's Degree from a 4-year college or university or equivalent work experience required
  • Experience:
    • Minimum of 7 years sales and/or sales operations experience
    • Experience with developing and deploying large sales improvement initiatives preferred
    • Experience in sales across Core, Auto, Corporate selling channels preferred
  • Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the company, in its discretion, may find appropriate and acceptable

Key Competencies:

  • Knowledge of how to drive change across the culture of an organization; ability to communicate fact-based recommendations and secure organization buy-in
  • Familiarity with selling process, understanding of CRM and sales reporting tools, as well as training processes
  • Strong presentation, and verbal & written communication skills
  • Strong customer orientation; knowledge of customer needs and their decision-making process
  • Strategic thinking, strong problem solving, and ability to identify key issues and prioritize key initiatives
  • Analytical ability to identify key trends and areas for sales performance improvement

Physical Demands/Work Environment/Travel Requirements:

  • Physical demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; talk, hear, taste and/or smell; the employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 30 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Work environment: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is exposed to weather conditions prevalent at the time. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
  • Travel required: 70+% of the time, travel throughout the Region and will require overnight stays. Travel to the Field Support Center and other destinations will be required.
