Position Description: 

The primary responsibility of the Director of Product Information & Application is to lead ATD in understanding how to capture all product information/any fitment issues/nuances and create/maintain a portal/database in which knowledge is both accessible and shared across the organization and in our on-line sites. To assemble train, and direct a team with unparalleled accuracy as it relates to fitment driven systems. Continue to develop accurate fitment data and fitment logic. Create an expert system to accurately determine fitment under a variety of scenarios.

Primary Responsibilities:                                                        

  • Maintain accurate fitment data and fitment logic
  • Support the creation of an expert system to accurately determine fitment under a variety of scenarios
  • Validate wheel and tire plus fitments for aftermarket application and fitment
  • Gather fitment data and information from multiple sources as well as hands on experience: i.e.   clean up/audit current fitment issues, attach fitment issues to vehicles and product codes), maintain fitment standards with our vendors for proper fitments and applications (center bore, lug configuration, offset, X factor/brake clearance), maintain vehicle fitment information (model changes, brake changes, chassis variations), attend fitment and vehicle measuring sessions (car manufactured sponsored, SEMA sponsored, magazine sponsored), maintain wheel catalogs, maintain vehicle image catalogs.
  • Act as a conduit between fitment data information in ATD Online and the image data at wheel ecommerce (example: reconcile above information to the Tire Buyer web site and spread multiyear vehicle models across the image program)
  • Partner closely with the Director of Wheel Sales in order to develop and maintain ATD vehicle fitment data base for aftermarket product
  • Understand the liabilities involved with proper wheel and tire fitment and application
  • Understanding of vehicle dynamics, especially as it relates to proper product fitment and application
  • Ability to conduct tests on various groups of like products and have ability to determine the best performers by category
  • Experience/ability to create and disseminate “real world” testing conditions into written summaries( i.e. how products perform in wet, dry, and icy conditions)
  • Understanding of automotive aftermarket and trends as it relates to vehicle customization
  • Support the development of training programs on product information and application for ATD
  • Full Knowledge of tire/wheel fitments
  • Knowledge of on-line competition
  • ATD vehicle fitment data base for aftermarket product

Experience(s) that Best Prepares You: 

  • Education:  High School Graduate
  • Minimum of 5 years direct fitment experience
  • Strong/proven mechanical aptitude
  • Wheel fitment and application knowledge experience
  • Retail wheel and tire experience
  • Hands on wheel and tire installation experience
  • Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the company, in its discretion, may find appropriate and acceptable.

Physical Demands/Work Environment/Travel Requirements:

  • Physical demands:  While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; talk, hear, taste and/or smell; the employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 150 pounds.  Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Work environment:  While performing the duties of this job, the employee is exposed to weather conditions prevalent at the time.  The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
  • Travel required:  25+% of the time, travel throughout the geographic area within the assigned region and will require overnight stays.  Travel to the Field Support Center and other destinations will be required.
