Position Description: 

The Planning Systems Analyst manages/processes Oracle planning system settings and executes various other planning system processes. Has primary responsibility for processing system settings related to ordering and replenishment and testing program enhancements as assigned by Planning System Manager. Has a secondary responsibility to help manage the forecast and perform other data analysis as required.

Primary Responsibilities:                                                         

  • Review and process planning settings mailboxes in accordance with purchasing policies and procedures
  • Maintain blocks mailbox updates sent by DC or internally.
  • Tactfully communicate with DC’s regarding questions or issues
  • Confirm that changes have been made
  • Ensure proper filing and record keeping in the blocks mailbox.
  • Help maintenance the planning mailbox
  • Keep good communication with Demand Plan Manager as tasks will be completed by both in this mailbox
  • Review items for corporate backorder situations and set stocking levels based on Discoverer reports, identify items and set hard coded safety stock levels.
  • Communicate these items and levels to Brand Directors and Directors of Business Development, monitor items for removal and or updates.
  • Review other planning system update processes – Safety stock % overrides, Lead time check, etc.
  • Testing on improvements of above processes as assigned by Planning Systems Manager
  • Review Demand Plan forecast weekly using appropriate judgment
  • Other business data analysis as assigned
  • Back-up other purchasing personnel as needed.
  • Develop and maintain necessary records and filing of planning changes for efficient operation.
  • Help develop tools for procurement and inventory management as assigned.  Mainly through Discoverer and Microsoft Excel.
  • Cross train with Demand Plan Manager and Planning Systems Manager as required.
  • Be observant to computer programs and systems modification or enhancement opportunities that might improve ordering efficiencies and effectiveness

Experience(s) that Best Prepares You:                                  

  • Education:  Minimum high school diploma or GED; associate or bachelor’s degree from college or university preferred
  • Experience:  Business experience preferably in inventory/purchasing with exposure to forecasting and replenishment concepts/systems/processes and data analysis a plus. Experience working in a team environment.
  • Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the company, in its discretion, may find appropriate and acceptable

Key Competencies:

  • Oracle system knowledge related to inventory planning settings
  • Analytical, troubleshooting and problem solving skills related to ordering process, planning settings, stock outs, etc.
  • Ability to extract information from systems and analyze clearly and efficiently - Excel power user and Oracle Discoverer (or similar database query tool) intermediate user
