Position Description: 

The primary responsibility of the Manager of Inside Sales is to grow the region’s sales and profitability, through developing their Inside Account Managers and executing their business plan. The MIS will actively coach and develop their sales team, particularly through direct observations of calls. The MIS will also contribute to the development of the monthly forecast and annual budget for the region, and is accountable for achieving sales targets. The MIS will also work with the Director of Inside Sales to execute the company inside selling strategy. Furthermore, the MIS will be responsible for coordinating selling activities with the Directors of Sales in markets within the region.

Primary Responsibilities:                                  

Manage team of IAMs making outbound sales calls to account locations to grow sales; be accountable for IAMs hitting call targets Actively coach and develop IAMs, through direct observations and call monitoring Implement standard routines and processes that have been developed to help IAMs make efficient, high quality sales calls Understand ATD and manufacturer programs and coach IAMs to use program compliance to drive sales Assist IAMs in call scheduling process Collaborate with Directors of Sales in each market, coordinating sales efforts and ensuring that IAMs are effectively teaming with Outside Account Managers Partner with DOS to establish lead generation program to develop and grow high opportunity accounts Understand root causes of IAM challenges and communicate across region leadership and to Sales COE to identify improvement opportunities Develop and execute IAM business plan, in collaboration with Directors of Sales Proactively identify market trends and competitive pressures and adapt strategy and plan in response Support the development and review of IAM business plans Contribute to development of the monthly sales forecast and annual budget, and maintain accountability for achieving aligned upon sales targets Develop strong customer relationships and establish trust with large key customers Maintain fundamental knowledge of products, policies, and merchandising information to manage market growth and ensure team knowledge Coordinate with Sales Center of Excellence and Director of Internal Sales to develop and deploy sales initiatives that drive consistency in the sales org Coordinate with supply chain and operations leaders to align on activities that affect both sales and operations (e.g., which customers to serve) and make decisions that are best for the overall profitability and growth of the Region Champion the delivery of outstanding customer service Drive the sales execution of DR&I and overstock inventory

Experience(s) that Best Prepares You: 

  • Education: Minimum high school graduate or GED; prefer Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) from four-year College, or equivalent work experience
  • Experience:
    • Minimum 5 years sales experience; preferred 10 years or greater. Combination of at least 3 years sales experience and at least 3 years management experience preferred
    • Experience in leading people and managing high-performing teams preferred
  • Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the company, in its discretion, may find appropriate and acceptable

Physical Demands/Work Environment/Travel Requirements:

  • Physical demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; talk, hear, taste and/or smell; the employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 30 pounds.  Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Work environment: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is exposed to weather conditions prevalent at the time.  The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
  • Travel required: 5% of the time, with travel throughout the assigned region and may require overnight stays. Travel could include both automobile and air travel. Travel to the Field Support Center and other destinations will be required.
