Position Description: 

The International Supply Chain (ISC) team is responsible for all aspects of planning, ordering and deployment our proprietary brands and imported product. This includes overseas vendors and domestic vendors who produce product under our proprietary brand labels. ISC has an in-country presence which supports real-time communication with our vendors. ISC collaborates with the Demand Planning, Transportation and Mixing Warehouse (MWH) groups on operational efficiency and inventory flow matters. ISC monitors inventory positions and drives redeployment to support customer needs. ISC also support the domestic sales group with vendor direct orders and the Hercules Tire International on export sales.

The primary and ultimate responsibility of the Inventory Analyst is monitoring/analyzing distribution center (DC) inventory positions and making/recommending planning system adjustments needed to assure appropriate inventory at the DC level. Position is a partner with DC/Procurement/Supply Chain personnel to provide appropriate product screens and inventory levels to meet local market needs. The job also has responsibility for monitoring/analyzing assigned mixing center inventory positions and making/recommending planning system adjustments to ensure these facilities are meeting defined goals and managing capacity constraints.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Analyze DC level inventory for opportunities to capture missed sales, improve in-stock performance,  etc. through making/recommending changes to planning system settings e.g. unblocks, lead times, SS levels
  • Partner with DC management, buyers, brand directors and supply chain personnel to make/recommend planning system changes to achieve specific management objectives. 
  • Select specific focus areas:
    • New items
    • Seasonal items
    • Customer missed sales analysis
    • Periodic product screen reviews
  • Monitor overstock positions and report/recommend actions to appropriate management
  • Troubleshoot inventory issues, identify/solve root cause and recommend adjustments to systems as needed
  • Monitor/analyze assigned mixing center inventories to meet management objectives within capacity constraints
  • Cross train with other Planning personnel as required
  • Be observant for opportunities that might improve systems and processes
  • Perform other duties as assigned
  • Improved availability of stocked inventory to meet customer needs at assigned Distribution Centers
  • More appropriate product screens to capture desirable sales while managing inventory levels
  • Effective inventory and capacity management at assigned mixing centers

Qualifications

Required

  • 1+ year(s) of analytical experience within an inventory/purchasing environment with exposure to forecasting and replenishment concepts/systems/processes
  • Basic Microsoft Excel experience

Desired

  • Business experience preferably in inventory/purchasing with exposure to forecasting and replenishment concepts/systems/processes and data analysis a plus
  • Experience and success working in team environment
  • Industry and product exposure helpful
  • Advanced Excel skills (i.e. – advanced formulas, pivot tables, v-lookups, etc.)
