Position Description: 

The primary responsibility of the Inventory Analyst is analyzing DC inventory positions and supporting companywide initiatives as it relates to product and DC transitions. Position is a partner with Senior Vice Presidents/Regional Market Specialists/Vendor Relationship Directors personnel to provide appropriate product screens and inventory levels to meet local market and vendor needs. The job also has responsibility for recommendations to strategically liquidate obsolete inventories. Along with companywide initiatives, there are regional projects the Inventory Analyst will review and analyze data to assist and execute activities surrounding consolidation opportunities for vendor buybacks and forward buy-plans to support growth incentives programs. Presentations are given from the Inventory Analyst to Executive Management on findings and opportunities, which can/will turn into execution plans for the Analyst as well.



Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Analyze DC level inventory for opportunities to capture missed sales, improve in-stock performance, etc. through making/recommending changes to planning system settings e.g. unblocks, lead times, SS levels
  • Partner with DC management, buyers, vendor brand directors and supply chain personnel to make/recommend planning system changes to achieve specific management objectives.  Select specific focus areas –
    • Strategic Vendor Buys (buy forward)
    • Line transition (exit strategy and timing)
    • Seasonal items
    • Customer missed sales analysis
    • Periodic product screen reviews
  • Monitor overstock positions and report/recommend actions to take in order to leverage inventory in the best possible way
  • Troubleshoot inventory issues, identify/solve root cause and recommend adjustments to systems as needed
  • Cross train with other Planning associates in Supply Chain as required
  • Create processes that result in improved inventory optimization
  • Perform other duties as assigned – generally in the form of special projects
  • Improve availability of stocked inventory to meet customer needs at assigned Distribution Centers
  • Recommend customizations to product screens to capture desirable sales while managing inventory levels
  • Effective inventory and capacity management at assigned mixing centers
  • DR&I inventory management – analysis and recommendations on moves
  • Responsibility for supporting ATD and NTD businesses

Requirements

  • Education:  4 year accredited college degree preferably in Business, Supply Chain, Finance or Technical area.  Business experience preferably in inventory/purchasing with exposure to forecasting and replenishment concepts/systems/processes and data analysis a plus.
  • Experience:  Strong analytical background preferably in inventory/purchasing with exposure to forecasting and replenishment concepts/systems/processes. Experience and success working in team environment. Industry and product exposure helpful.

  • Excellent analytical and process thinking skills
  • Ability to extract information from systems and analyze clearly and efficiently - Excel power user and Oracle Discoverer (or similar database query tool) intermediate user
  • Good procurement and inventory management concept/process understanding
  • Good understanding of Oracle Demand Planning (DP) and Advanced Supply Chain Planning (ASCP) concepts and functional processes a plus.
