Position Description: 

The primary responsibility of the L&D Director, Supply Chain is to serve as the primary driver leading training design, development, and deployment efforts for training programs designed to advance and elevate the supply chain function for the organization. The L&D Director is responsible for optimization and integration of various tools, processes and capabilities across the business unit and will direct staff and trainers in the research, development, and implementation of training and development programs to support various initiatives. The role will be expected to work alongside the business, and HR stakeholders to design and implement learning and development programs that are executed to meet organizational expectations. The role will be accountable to ensure the programs and training materials developed are instructionally sound and that the concepts and materials are consistent and interconnected.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Serve as Supply Chain business partner in order to create learning strategy for the field organization
  • Integrate learning and development programs into college talent recruiting strategy
  • Measure effectiveness of learning in order to provide ROI and influence planning for future development needs
  • Calculate spend and learning investment for Supply Chain audiences
  • Integrate ATD Leadership Development initiatives into existing curriculum
  • Create and maintain learning architecture for Supply Chain audiences
  • Create and deploy Safety learning strategy and curriculum
  • Evaluate instructor/trainer performance and the effectiveness of training programs, providing recommendations for improvement
  • Develop testing and evaluation procedures, evaluate instructor performance and effectiveness of training programs, provide feedback for improvement if needed
  • Conduct or arrange for ongoing technical training and personal development classes for staff members
  • Confer with management and conduct surveys to identify training needs based on projected production processes, changes, and other factors
  • Develop and organize training manuals, multimedia visual aids, and other educational materials.
  • Plan, develop, and provide training and staff development programs, using knowledge of the effectiveness of methods such as classroom training, web-based training, demonstrations, on-the-job training, meetings, conferences, and workshops
  • Analyze training needs to develop new training programs or modify and improve existing programs
  • Train instructors and supervisors in techniques and skills for training and dealing with employees

  • Four Year Degree from an accredited college.
  • Human Resources — Knowledge of principles and procedures for employee recruitment, selection, training, compensation and benefits, labor relations and negotiation, and HR information systems
  • Administration and Management — Knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, human resources modeling, leadership technique, production methods, and coordination of people and resources.
  • Education and Training — Knowledge of principles and methods for curriculum and training design, teaching and instruction for individuals and groups, and the measurement of training effects. This includes the Human Performance Improvement Model.
  • Customer and Personal Service — Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services. This includes customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction.
  • Effective communicator on all levels
  • Strong facilitation skills
  • Strong project management skills
  • Must be an effective business partner with high degree of business acumen
  • Will be managing a team, so must be a motivator and have be able to develop a team
  • Must have excellent time management skills
