Position Description: 

The Desktop Engineer of End User Computing is responsible for the administration and maintenance of the Microsoft Systems Center Solution and associate tools to administer the end user computing environment. The individual assists in deploying updates, third-party patching, and application and operating system deployments. Plans, performs and assists with enterprise operations, configuration, and management for systems and services.



Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Build, test, and deploy the corporate desktop image management solution.
  • Package, test, and deploy business software packages and updates to the end user environment.
  • Execute inventory management processes of end user hardware and software assets.
  • Create Scripting solutions within PowerShell for various administrative needs.
  • Conduct testing and evaluation of new hardware models.
  • Resolve tickets and incidents opened by end users, application / patch deployments, new system image certification, and Windows client deployments.

Requirements

  • Education:  Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university, or the 5-7 years of relevant work experience.
  • Experience:
  • Experience with patch management in a Windows environment, Windows/desktop software deployment and configuration of systems, system installation and configuration, printing systems, installation of third-party software, system resource management and the hardware / OS interface, file systems, performance analysis.
  • Experience with Active Directory and Group Policies.
  • Experience designing, implementing, and maintaining a desktop environment.
  • Experience with SCCM.
  • Strong scripting experience using Powershell, VBS, etc.
  • Preferred
  • Experience managing AD functions.
  • Strong understanding of SCCM 2012, MDT, and Windows 10 Servicing.
  • Strong understanding of patch management solutions (WSUS).
  • Strong understanding of Networking, DNS, Infrastructure concepts.
  • Proficiency conducting precise impact analyses.
  • Understand target operating system (i.e. Windows, Linux, UNIX); system resource management (i.e. paging and swapping), inter-process communications, device management and the hardware / OS interface, file system concept
  • Ability to identify and implement standardized processes across the operating environment.
  • Advanced knowledge of PC level products deployed throughout ATD.
  • Knowledge about all aspects of engineering (i.e. configuration of systems, system installation and configuration, printing systems, fundamentals of security, installing third-party software).
  • Understand networking/distributed computing environment concepts; principles of routing, client/server programming; and design of consistent network-wide file system layouts.
