Position Description: 

The Benefits Manager assists in the design, implementation, administration, and ongoing evaluation of ATD’s health and welfare programs. The role provides subject matter expertise to internal and external stakeholders related to benefit plans. This position will consult with leadership, business clients, and HR business partners to identify, develop and implement initiatives that impact benefit programs.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Design, implementation, administration and ongoing evaluation of health and welfare programs, including 401(k), medical, dental, vision, disability, and other programs as designed.
  • Project manage and play a lead role on annual benefit department activities including participant open enrollment, and health and welfare plan design renewals.
  • Oversee all aspects of benefit plan implementation and administration
  • Lead analyses associated with annual and ad-hoc benefit requests, and provide data-driven recommendations that align with market benchmarks and internal company strategy.
  • Establish benefit function guidelines and processes, helping to drive efficiencies in HR processes and reporting.
  • Partner with HRIS in the build-out and ongoing data integrity of Workday.
  • Lead and assist on enterprise-wide benefit projects including benefit strategy, and wellness initiatives.
  • Ensure company compliance with ATD’s practices, as well as, federal, state and local regulations/legislation, including ERISA, IRS and PPACA guidelines
  • Manage the audit preparation of the 5500 filing and discrimination testing, in accordance with plan documents, established policies and procedures, and applicable laws and regulations.

Requirements and Experience

  • Preferred Education: 4-year college or university degree
  • 5+ years of experience in benefit plan administration
  • Knowledge of laws as they relate to benefits and HR, including federal, state and local regulations
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills, with the ability to conduct and interpret complex analyses and provide actionable insights to guide decision making
  • Thrive in high-volume, fast-paced and feedback driven environments
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel; proficiency in Microsoft Word and PowerPoint
  • Familiarity with HR systems and databases; Workday experience a plus
  • Comfort interacting with all levels of employees including Senior Management
  • Prior experience managing confidential and sensitive data
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision
