Position Description: 

The Principal Supply Chain Network Optimization is a highly strategic role and her/his team will work with cross-functional business partners and organizational leadership to identify and assess high-value if-then scenarios to inform growth strategies and drive efficiencies and productivity in our end-to-end supply chain. This director level role and team will model and simulate scenarios through ATD's Digital Twin network simulation and optimization tool to inform operational and strategic decision making for the company. Additionally, this role will be a critical partner with the business to ensure optimal network models are deployed in our operations. The role will be responsible for the configuration and ongoing management of ATD's Digital Twin Network Simulation tool, configuring scenarios, formatting model output, and presenting sound, data-supported business recommendations to the senior leadership team and business partners. The Principal Supply Chain Network Planner will mentor peers and team members in consulting with ATD strategy, supply chain teams, sales, and real estate teams to work towards adoption and execution of a plan that will ultimately improve customer experience, reduce working capital, improve operating expenses, optimize product flow, and influence ATD's distribution footprint. 

Network Strategy:

  • Work with key members of the Senior Leadership Team (SLT), Strategy Leadership, and Functional Leadership to identify key strategic alternatives to making our broad Supply Chain more productive and support sales growth. You will work with your team and the business to model those scenarios in the new tool
  • Define the best topology for where future RDCs and LMDCs should be located to minimize end-to-end supply chain cost and deliver best customer experience
  • Create Building Requirement (BR) for each new LMDCs and RDCs added into the network
  • The BR defines how the building should be designed, including 4-wall operations processes, inventory storage capacity, SKU mix, inbound and outbound capacity, transportation capacity, and labor plan needed to run the operations
  • Create quarterly Plan of Records (PORs) refreshes by year for future RDC & DC network expansion
  • Ability to be agile and innovative while breaking down and rebuilding complex supply chain problems
  • Ability to think strategically about the network and draw clear, concise insights on how the network may change

Network Optimization Modeling: 

  • Continuously identify, model and validate network, product flow and operational changes that drive increased supply chain efficiency and precision. Guide and consult with the business teams in the interpretation of complex model outcomes
  • Based on model output, partner with key strategic stakeholders to guide business on intermediate and long-term decisions, including the real estate department as it relates to lease terms, DC footprint, and territory selection
  • Design and configure Digital Planning Twin environment using network planning tools, River Logic or Llamasoft experience preferred
  • Drive model validation initiatives, covering operational, financial, and strategic outcomes
  • Maintain and de-bug models as appropriate, including data errors and infeasibility processing 
  • Demonstrate a strong collaboration capability amongst peers
