Position Description: 

Reporting to the Payment Application Manager, the Payment Application Specialist will assist the organization in all aspects of the cash application function in a high-volume transaction environment. The Payment Application Specialist plays a key role in the Accounts Receivables service of Financial Shared Services as they reconcile and match any payments from customers that are not successfully processed by Oracle. The Payment Application Specialist will work closely with the Payment Application manager to resolve any discrepancies or issues that may arise.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Cash Application Management

  • Apply payments accurately to the customers’ account and in a timely manner.
  • Research and correct payment misapplication issues when they arise.
  • Process all unapplied and unidentified payments in Oracle on a daily basis. 
  • Communicate any differences that result in chargebacks or payments posted on an account to the Cash Application Manager and Credit & Collections team.
  • Research and reconcile cash application issues.

Process Improvement Management

  • Advise management on actions needed to improve performance and processes.
  • Collaborate across functions to promote best practices as they relate to cash application processes.

  • Experience: 2 years of Accounts Receivable experience with emphasis in payment application processing in a high volume or shared services environment


  • Education: Associates Degree

    • Support cash management activities.

    • Demonstrate a basic understanding of metrics and how to find related data.
    • Identify appropriate metrics to assess initiatives and processes.
    • Communicate the rationale behind the collection and use of metrics.
    • Leverage basic tools to generate quality data.
    • Draw insight from basic metrics and share with clients.
