Position Description: 

THIS ROLE WILL PROVIDE OVERNIGHT SUPPORT.
This position reports to the Senior Manager Transportation Systems within the Last Mile Delivery group. This position works directly with Field Operations and Supply Chain Management leaders to support Last Mile Delivery (LMD) initiatives. Primary objective is to provide system support for Descartes routing software for each Distribution Center in an assigned Region and also help support the transition from Roadnet.

The Logistics Routing Specialist (LRS) provides on-going support and consultation to Operations Field Management, Sales, and Transportation teams to enhance customer service & reduce operating expenses through the identification of route optimization opportunities.

The LRS specializes in utilizing Descartes routing software to evaluate route plans within a Distribution Center, group of Distribution Centers, or a Region and identifies opportunities for improved efficiencies. The LRS will support the transition from Roadnet to Descartes through routing and analysis. The goal is daily management of Descartes routing software and ongoing analysis for improvement opportunities. Work with the operations and sales to enhance existing delivery performance and optimized efficiency expectations that are compared to actual service performance.

Primary Responsibilities:

                                                                                                           

•        Work closely with Field Operations to support ongoing Roadnet and Descartes routing software training and best practices.

•        Assist local DC Management with route plan performance and provide expertise and guidance within your assigned regions

•        Provide on-going support and consultation to Distribution Excellence Managers, Regional Supply Chain Directors and Supply Chain (SC)

•        Assess and analyze operational statistics and financial results regarding route service costs and make recommendations that result in operational cost savings

•        Maintain and update the local Roadnet network routing database environments to assure proper operation and to generate optimal routing results when utilizing the routing system 

•        Analyze the effectiveness of continuous improvement initiatives through ongoing monitoring and communication with Field Operations and Supply Chain Teams

•        Provide project support on various initiatives, analysis, and supply chain network projects as assigned

•        Willingness to travel, as needed, on a regional and periodic national basis

Experience(s) that Best Prepares You:           

Education: High School Diploma required; Bachelor’s Degree preferred

Experience:

•        Experience in computerized routing and distribution operations preferred

•        Two years transportation - supply chain distribution experience preferred

•        Prior experience with distribution routing and navigational systems software preferred (i.e., Roadnet, Territory Planner, Appian, Roadshow, Truck Stops, Descartes)

•        Basic SQL experience (preferred)

•        Strong analytical skills with proven ability to effectively communicate insights and recommendations to key stakeholders

•        Strong competency in Microsoft Excel and Word, including v-lookup, pivot tables, etc.

•        Proven written and verbal communication skills with experience interacting and presenting to different levels of management

•        Demonstrated organizational skills with ability to manage competing priorities and multi-task in a dynamic environment

•        Self-directed and must be able to perform with limited supervision

•        Knowledge and application of lean tools and principals
