Position Description: 

As a Lead Data Engineer, you will be a key leader within our organization, responsible for overseeing and driving our data engineering initiatives. You will lead a team of data engineers and collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to design, build, and maintain the data infrastructure that supports our data-driven decision-making processes. Your role will be critical in ensuring the availability, quality, and security of our data assets, enabling data analytics and business intelligence efforts to thrive. The Lead Data Engineer will be a strategic thinker, an effective team leader, and a hands-on technologist with a deep understanding of data engineering best practices.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Architectural Design and Implementation:

  • Develop and maintain the overall data architecture, ensuring it aligns with the business strategy and objectives.

  • Design and implement cloud architecture solutions, ensuring they meet scalability, reliability, and security requirements.

  • Create and manage data models, data flows, and integration processes.

2. Data Management:

  • Oversee the development, deployment, and maintenance of the data warehouse and data lake.

  • Implement data governance and data quality strategies to ensure data integrity and compliance.

  • Develop and enforce data security policies and procedures.

3. Cloud Management:

  • Design and manage cloud environments, including GCP, Azure, or AWS.

  • Optimize cloud infrastructure for cost, performance, and security.

  • Ensure cloud solutions are integrated seamlessly with on-premises systems.

4. Collaboration and Leadership:

  • Collaborate with IT, data science, and business teams to understand requirements and translate them into technical solutions.

  • Lead and mentor a team of data engineers, cloud engineers, and other technical staff.

  • Provide technical guidance and support to ensure best practices in data and cloud architecture.

5. Innovation and Improvement:

  • Stay current with emerging technologies and industry trends, recommending and implementing new solutions as appropriate.

  • Continuously improve existing data and cloud systems to enhance efficiency and performance.

  • Drive automation and infrastructure as code practices.

6. Data Collection and Preprocessing

  • Collect data from various sources, ensuring reliability and relevance.

  • Extract data from structured and unstructured sources.

  • Transform data using appropriate tools and techniques.

  • Address missing or incomplete data and handle anomalies.

  • Standardize data formats and integrate data from different sources.

  • Develop and implement data validation procedures.

7. Data Analysis and Modeling

  • Conduct exploratory data analysis to identify patterns and trends.

  • Formulate and test hypotheses using statistical techniques.

  • Develop predictive models using machine learning algorithms.

  • Create descriptive statistics and summary reports.

Qualifications:

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.

  • 8+ years of experience in data architecture, cloud computing, and database management.

  • Proven experience with one of main cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP.

  • Proven experience in data collection, preprocessing, analysis, and visualization.

  • Strong background in data warehousing, ETL processes, and data modeling.

Technical Skills:

  • Proficiency in SQL, NoSQL, and database management systems.

  • Proficiency in data extraction and transformation tools.

  • Knowledge of programming languages such as Python, SQL, script language.

  • Familiarity with DevOps practices and tools (e.g., Terraform, Ansible, Jenkins).

  • Experience with data visualization tools (e.g., Excel, Tableau, Power BI).

  • Understanding of network architecture and security protocols.

Soft Skills:

  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

  • Proven leadership and project management capabilities.

Certifications:

  • Relevant cloud certifications (e.g., AWS Certified Solutions Architect, Azure Solutions Architect Expert, Google Professional Cloud Architect) are a plus.

  • Data management certifications (e.g., CDMP, CBIP) are advantageous.
