Position Description: 

The Internal Account Manager is responsible for selling to and supporting existing customers through outbound telephone sales calls.

Make outbound sales calls to account locations to grow sales

  • Support Outside Account Managers to service high-volume and high-loyalty accounts
  • Own primary relationships with several accounts

Develop and maintain relationships with assigned locations

  • Identify sales growth opportunities including products and ATD and manufacturer programs
  • Educate locations about programs and monitor and provide program compliance updates

Collaborate with Outside Account Managers to maintain relationships and service customer locations in overlapping areas Identify new leads and prospect for new customers Maintain thorough knowledge of new and existing products, policies, and merchandising information to efficiently serve customers Research, prioritize, and plan sales calls for sales growth and business development Monitor customer retention and collaborate with manager and Outside Account Managers to address high-risk customers Conduct complex issue resolution for customers

  • Collaborate with Inside Sales and Service Managers and Inside Sales and Service Representatives to understand issues raised
  • Communicate customer issues and feedback to appropriate ATD colleagues, including Outside Account Managers

Maintain knowledge of competitors' pricing, policies and market strategy to effectively deal with business competition Champion corporate image and reputation by providing customers with suitable promotional activities as directed

Experience(s) that Best Prepares You:

  • Education: High school diploma or GED
  • Experience: Prior work experience in a competitive sales environment preferred
  • Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Company in its discretion may find appropriate and acceptable

Physical Demands/Work Environment/Travel Requirements:

  • Physical demands:  While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; talk, hear, taste and/or smell; the employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 150 pounds.  Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Work environment:  While performing the duties of this job, the employee is exposed to weather conditions prevalent at the time.  The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
  • Travel required:  5% of the time, with travel throughout the assigned region and may require overnight stays. Travel could include both automobile and air travel. Travel to the Field Support Center and other destinations will be required.
