Position Description: 

Reporting to a Director of Accounting, the Intermediate Accountant assists in preparation of the company’s monthly financial statements, including routine accounting entries, and ensures proper reconciliation of general ledger accounts to assist in delivering timely and accurate financial data and statements to senior management and external and internal auditors. The role also helps facilitate quarterly reviews and annual year-end audits by external auditors as well as the internal audit team. The Intermediate Accountant is responsible for the accounting of bank reconciliations, GL account reconciliations, monthly journal entries, and monthly and quarterly reports as needed.



Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Controls & Compliance Management

  • Prepare and load monthly/quarterly journal entries into Oracle.
  • Prepare monthly bank reconciliations for multiple accounts.
  • Maintain reconciliations and amortization of certain prepaid expenses and related journal entries.
  • Prepare special financial reports as requested by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing account information and trends
  • Ensure proper reconciliation of general ledger accounts by creating monthly reconciliations including review/development of account support / propose corrections & adjustments.
  • Perform balance sheet account analysis and other analytical procedures as needed
  • Perform daily and monthly tasks related to employee management in Oracle from our HR system of record
  • Perform tasks related to the calculation of commissions and partnering with the Sales and Comp teams
  • Assist in delivering timely and accurate financial data/statements to senior management and external/internal auditors.
  • Assist with the recording of judgmental reserves & estimates, account eliminations, and normal/routine accounting entries.
  • Help facilitate quarterly reviews and annual year-end audit by external auditors and internal audit team.
  • Help facilitate timely and accurate ad hoc reporting requirements including governmental census requirements, miscellaneous information requests from senior management and other functional departments/distribution centers.
  • Assist in the development and continued performance of a proper internal control environment around the general ledger function.

Process Improvement

  • Support the development of process improvements to ensure accurate and appropriate information, tools, and process frameworks are in place.

Qualifications

Required

  • Education: Bachelor’s Degree (Accounting, Business Administration, or related discipline)
  • Experience: 3 years of experience in accounting/financial reporting, and preparation of financial statements

Preferred

  • Strong Excel skills and experience accounting and reporting and analysis of data in large ERP systems (i.e. Oracle, SAP, etc.)

    • Exhibit knowledge of the organization's performance measurements, responsibility centers, and the objectives of different responsibility centers.
    • Create basic management information reports.
    • Support the analysis of internal financial statements, specifically focusing on the key performance indicators (KPIs) or ratios for the industry.

    • Draw insight from basic metrics and share with clients.
