Position Description:
Director Pricing Analytics
The Director of Pricing Analytics will take pricing to the next level at ATD by leveraging a myriad of datasets that cover retail, wholesale, and manufacturer pricing. The Director will lead a team in using the insights gleaned from the data to inform better decision making across the Merchandising and Sales teams. In addition to driving further accountability to today’s pricing decisions, this role will explore new pricing strategies that will drive net profitability at ATD (e.g. semi-dynamic pricing, integration of inventory levels into pricing, deployment of incentives to share cost saving, etc.)
Responsibilities:
- Serve as the leader of the data analytics arm within the RevMan department, managing the Pricing Analytics team
- Analyze large data sets to identify margin accretive opportunities. Data to include ATD transaction data, Torqata competitive prices, Lizeo retail prices, segmentation profiles, etc.
- Optimize use of Torqata data in the pricing model as both a systematic driver of base price optimization (competitive corridor) and as insight generation for Merchandising and Category Management decisions
- Optimize use of Lizeo data in the pricing model as both a systematic driver of base price optimization (Market Price Index) and as insight generation for Merchandising and Category Management decisions
- Partner with FP&A to develop tools to evaluate price decisions and drive accountability to business decision owners, establishing a regular cadence of reviewing all pricing decisions
- Partner with the Pricing Execution Team and Merchandising pod team to develop an insights and recommendation package that the Pricing Managers will leverage to drive recommendations for their product portfolio
- Develop a model to measure cannibalization – both product cannibalization (cross-elasticity) and period cannibalization (pull forward)
- Partner with the Customer Insights team to develop an empirical measurement of ATD’s price perception
- Cost Price Calculation: Develop cost price for one or more products and/or initiatives, in alignment with regional/local policies and guidelines as well as centralized product strategies and pricing model output
- Horizon Scanning: Explore and develop a detailed understanding of external developments or emerging issues and evaluate their potential impact on, or usefulness to, the organization
- Market Analysis: Collect and analyze market data and intelligence to inform go to market pricing
What you Bring to the Table:
- 7-10 years of experience in pricing or revenue management roles preferred; strategy and analytics roles will be considered
- Experience within the wholesale distribution industry is a plus but not a prerequisite
- Strong analytical skills, ability to review and analyze data to draw conclusions, recognize trends, troubleshoot problems, and avoid inaccuracies
- Experience with PriceFx, Tableau, Microsoft BI, and strong Excel skills preferred
- Ability to build strong relationships across a variety of stakeholder groups – Pricing, Merchandising, Sales, Field Support Center, etc.
- Ability to manage the execution and tracking of pricing implementation initiatives
- Excellent face-to-face, virtual, and written communication skills
- Strong attention to detail, with an ability to multi-task, track progress and report to management
