Position Description: 

The primary responsibility of the Director of Human Resources is to provide leadership and direction in all areas of HR, inclusive of employee relations, state and federal compliance, leadership development and coaching, succession planning, compensation and Benefits design, performance reviews, payroll and policy development. Also develops organization strategies by identifying and researching human resources issues; contributing information, analysis, and recommendations to organization strategic thinking and direction; establishing human resources objectives in line with organizational objectives.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Implements human resources strategies by establishing department accountabilities, including employee relations, employment onboarding, compensation, health and welfare benefits, training and development, records management, safety and health, succession planning, employee relations and retention, AA/EEO compliance, and labor relations.
  • Develops human resources operations financial strategies by estimating, forecasting, and anticipating requirements, turnover trends, wage rates and variances; measuring and analyzing results; initiating corrective actions; minimizing the impact of change.
  • Accomplishes special project needs and results by identifying and clarifying issues and priorities; communicating and coordinating requirements; expediting fulfillment; evaluating milestone accomplishments; evaluating optional courses of action; changing assumptions and direction.
  • Supports management by providing human resources advice, counsel, and decisions.
  • Guides management and employee actions by researching, developing, writing, and updating policies, procedures, methods, and guidelines; communicating and enforcing organization values.
  • Complies with federal, state, and local legal requirements by studying existing and new legislation; anticipating legislation; enforcing adherence to requirements; advising management on needed actions.
  • Enhances department and organization reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.
  • Develops organization strategies by identifying and researching human resources issues; contributing information, analysis, and recommendations to organization strategic thinking and direction; establishing human resources objectives in line with organizational objectives.

Experience(s) that Best Prepares You: 

Education: Required:   4 Year Degree in Business or related field

Experience: 8+ years of business and human resources experience

  • Strong technical skills in employee relations, workers compensation, DOT, safety, training and organizational development, and HR metrics.
  • Strong project management skills.
  • Effective planning and organization skills.
  • Problem analysis and problem resolution skills.
  • Effective interpersonal skills and customer service orientation.
  • Effective communication skills, both oral & written.
  • Proficiency in all Microsoft Word programs including Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint

  • Work environment:  While performing the duties of this job, the employee is exposed to weather conditions prevalent at the time.  The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
