Position Description: 

The Database Architect provides technical expertise, strategic and tactical planning, design, engineering and documentation of ATD EBS Database and Application layer. He/She will be responsible for performing database analytics, and be able to report on capacity, availability and performance of EBS system. Root cause analysis, and level 3-problem resolution is critical. In addition, demonstrating expertise in a variety of the field's concepts, practices, and procedures. The DBA will rely on extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. This position is expected to take ownership, and work independently while acting as a mentor in guiding mid-level and junior DBAs. This position will be part of DBA team providing Development and Production DBA services. The applications supported by these databases are from a wide variety of vendor provided to in-house developed apps.

A true hands-on consultation on complex projects is key, and will be considered to be the top level contributor/specialist. In this role you will interact with the Enterprise Infrastructure Manager to establish strategies and priorities for the overall EBS and Oracle DB environments by analyzing and understanding the current and future industry trends in order to formulate and recommend plans to keep pace with the business and technical demands.



Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Responsible for all aspects of Application database administration including configuration, auto-config, product upgrades, capacity planning, backup and recovery
  • This includes but not limited to: installation, upgrade and maintenance of Oracle EBS R12 and its relational database and supporting software, cloning, patching, concurrent manager support
  • Responsible for evaluating patching requests, communicating constraints, issues and timelines for deployment
  • Serve as technical lead, Database Administrator for Oracle core databases supporting non E-Business Suite applications
  • Serve as the primary Oracle Application DBA, tasked with successfully recovering systems from Disaster for Deployed systems
  • Support change management including maintenance across multiple environments and deploying approved patches
  • Support Security/ Audit Reporting and provide input and recommendations
  • Provide production and operational support including pro-active database monitoring, issue resolution and on call duties
  • Support Database and Oracle E-business suite optimization including performance tuning, query optimization and supportability
  • Manage and work through Oracle’s (Service Requests) SR escalation process, applying software patches and upgrading the Oracle Applications environments
  • Provide leadership for DBA Projects
  • Provide mentoring of DBA team members

Qualifications

Required

  • Education:  Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, or related field preferred OR equivalent combination of education and experience deemed acceptable by ATD
  • 7+ years of experience in database design, administration, or maintenance
  • 7+ years of Oracle E-Business application DBA on multiple instances
  • 7+ years of hands-on experience on UNIX based systems - Expertise in all major versions of technology stack including Database, iAS, Forms, Reports, PL/SQL, Java, Enterprise Manager, SOA, WebLogic and JVM
  • Hands-on operational expertise as an Oracle DBA, with technology including RAC, ASM, DataGuard, High Availability and Backup/Recovery
  • Experience working with:
    • software installation/upgrading procedures; multiple logical entity modeling techniques; database creation techniques; relational databases; programming skills for database management and general software; Ansible
  • Expertise with Oracle EBS R12, including full life-cycle implementation experience, configuration and administration of the application
  • Expertise in performance tuning across the entire stack
  • Knowledge of Oracle maintenance/patching mechanics and EBS architecture
  • Demonstrated history of solving complex problems across multiple modules
  • Shell scripting and automation skills are a requirement
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and presentation skills – verbal and written 
  • Excellent analytical and problem solving skills
