Position Description: 

American Tire Distributors (ATD) is looking for experienced Commercialization Product Manager to help transform one of the more traditional industries in North America. As critical member of the Sales Center of Excellence, he/she will take a leadership role in advancing and commercializing a set of analytics use cases and solutions. This individual will groom and maintain the product backlog, develop commercialization approaches, identify and reach out to target customers, develop marketing strategies and create supplemental sales & communications material. He/she will partner with cross functional teams from IT, Analytics, Sales, Marketing and Learning for the product development and roll-out. The right candidate will be creative in analytical thinking, agile in iterative execution, and adroit in communicating with higher management.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities


  • Determines customers' needs and desires by specifying the research needed to obtain market information.
  • Recommends the nature and scope of present and future product lines by reviewing product specifications and requirements; appraising new product ideas and/or product or packaging changes.
  • Assesses market competition by comparing the company's product to competitors' products.
  • Provides source data for product line communications by defining product marketing communication objectives.
  • Assesses product market data by calling on customers with field salespeople and evaluating sales call results.
  • Provides information for management by preparing short-term and long-term product sales forecasts and special reports and analyses; answering questions and requests.
  • Brings new products to market by analyzing proposed product requirements and product development programs; preparing return-on-investment analyses; establishing time schedules with technical and commercial teams
  • Introduces and markets new products by developing time-integrated plans with sales, advertising, and production.
  • Determines product pricing by utilizing market research data; reviewing production and sales costs; anticipating volume; costing special and customized orders.
  • Completes operational requirements by scheduling and assigning employees; following up on work results.
  • Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies.
  • Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.

Direct Report Position Titles



  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • MBA preferred
  • 3+ years in tire industry understanding key players, decision making criteria and key sales processes
  • 5+ years managing cross functional teams
  • 5+ years of project management experience handling multiple projects at the same time
  • Experience managing technical resources (digital, tradition IT, analytics) and usage of technical project management tools (e.g., Git, Jira)
  • 5+ years of product management expertise with a focus on commercialization, sales and marketing
  • Experience working in an agile environment
  • Strong proficiency with MS Office
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
