Position Description: 

Develop and implement a category or product group strategy to improve the supply chain, reduce risk, create competitive advantage and deliver cost savings. Through a focus on product range, offers and how products are brought to market, and in close collaboration with key stakeholders, create product groups that maximize value both for customers and the organization.

The primary focus of the Category Manager is to analyze and develop ATD’s go-to-market product strategy within their assigned category assignment.

This position will manage a $1.5B category sales plan and work cross functionally to ensure margin, inventory velocity and investment are optimized (GMROI). This person will understand dynamics across all sales channels and develop clear and concise product strategies for Merchandising activation. The Category
Manager will drive a continuous line-review process to maximize performance, vendor negotiation and product coverage.

RESPONSIBILITIES 

Category Management 

Manage a major category plan/program in line with the organizations’ purchasing/procurement and/or sales strategy ensuring realization of synergies, like cost savings and risk-reduction, and/or optimization of the category profit. 


Stakeholder Engagement 

Develop stakeholder engagement through identifying stakeholders, finding out their needs/issues/concerns and reacting to these to support the communication 

of business information and decisions. 


Alliance Management 

Manage and structure a major part of the partnership governance, understanding the strategic, operational, and cultural fit between partner companies and putting 

processes and tools in place that ensure a smooth integration or a successful alliance execution. Work with guidance from senior colleagues. 


Information and Business Advice 

Provide specialist advice on the interpretation and application of policies and procedures, resolving complex or contentious queries and issues and enabling others to take appropriate actions. 


Horizon Scanning 

Explore and develop a detailed understanding of external developments or emerging issues and evaluate their potential impact on, or usefulness to, the organization.

Market Access 

Build and optimize important relationships and interactions with external and internal stakeholders, including key decision makers, regulators, public organizations, governmental institutions, insurance companies, providers, professional communities, and customer/client/patient groups. Work with guidance from senior colleagues. 


Customer Needs Clarification 

Set clear objectives for each sales call; develop and make presentations that are tailored to the known interests, needs, issues, and concerns of decision makers and influencers within the customer organization; gather and analyze relevant information; and gain agreement to a statement of customer requirements. 


Data Collection and Analysis 

Use data from a wide range of sources to analyze key themes and identify possible impacts on the business.

Act as subject matter expert in an area of technology, policy, regulation, or operational management for the team. Maintain external accreditations and in-depth understanding of current and emerging external regulation and industry best practices through continuing professional development, attending 

conferences, and reading specialist media.
